Samanjar Sayeed, Miss World Bangladesh 2026, has launched a nationwide hygiene awareness campaign titled “Hygiene for Bangladesh” with the support of Dhaka North City Corporation and Gulshan Society.
The organisers said the campaign will engage young volunteers to disseminate hygiene awareness across the country through educational and social awareness programmes.
The programme was jointly inaugurated at the capital’s Gulshan Lake Park on Wednesday evening by the Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Md Sakhawat Husain, alongside Gulshan Society President Barrister Omar Sadat and Samanjar Sayeed.
This initiative comes as Sayeed prepares to represent Bangladesh in the grand finale of Miss World 2026, which is scheduled to be held in Nha Trang, Vietnam, on 5 September.
Addressing the event as chief guest, Minister Sakhawat announced that the government will initiate a “home-to-home health screening” programme nationwide to identify diseases amongst the public at an early stage.
He emphasised that every citizen has a right to access healthcare and that no one would be deprived of such services. The minister further noted that there is no alternative to living in a clean and hygienic environment to stay healthy, describing public awareness as a prerequisite for building a prosperous, knowledge-based nation.
Gulshan Society President Barrister Omar Sadat remarked that health awareness must increase within every household to supplement services provided at hospitals and health centres.
He highlighted that the disease prevention system should be strengthened through personal cleanliness. Praising Sayeed’s initiative, he said it demonstrated how civic organisations and national platforms can collaborate for the welfare of the community.
The event was also attended by Azra Mahmud, national director of Miss World Bangladesh; Shaheen Anam, executive director of Manusher Jonnno Foundation; and Mujibur Rahman Mridha, general secretary of Gulshan Society, among others.
The proceedings concluded with the symbolic release of pigeons and biodegradable balloons, marking the official launch of nationwide volunteer registration.
