Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism asked all individuals and organisations operating travel agency businesses with expired licences to submit applications for registration certificate renewal.
According to Bangladesh Travel Agency (Registration and Control) Act, 2013, Bangladesh Travel Agency (Registration and Control) (Amendment) Act 2021, and the Bangladesh Travel Agency (Registration and Control) Ordinance, 2022, running a travel agency business without a valid registration certificate or without renewing an expired one is illegal.
The Ministry said the government is being deprived of revenue because registration certificates are not being renewed. Applications for renewal can be submitted through the ministry’s Online Travel Agency Management System.
It added that necessary legal action will be initiated against those travel agency businesses without obtaining or renewing a registration certificate within the next 15 working days.
