Bangladeshi singer Mimi Alauddin is preparing to return home after completing five consecutive stage performances during her concert tour in the United States.
The singer travelled to the US on 9 July with her only daughter, Rajkonna, to perform at cultural events organised by the Bangladeshi community across North America.
She had also planned to perform at the FOBANA Convention, but says her participation is now uncertain due to urgent personal commitments.
Speaking about the tour, Mimi Alauddin said she had already performed at five events in different US states, where expatriate Bangladeshis warmly received her performances.
“Wherever I performed, the Bangladeshi community welcomed me with immense love. I always try to sing the songs that audiences enjoy the most. Personally, I feel most comfortable performing classic Bangladeshi film songs. Alongside those, I also include some of my original songs,” she said.
She added that performing at the FOBANA Convention had been one of the main objectives of her visit, but she may have to return to Bangladesh before the event because of personal obligations.
“Now it depends on how things unfold,” the singer said.
Following the death of her husband, legendary composer Alauddin Ali, Mimi Alauddin has continued to balance her music career while raising their daughter on her own.
Despite the challenges of today’s competitive music industry, she has remained active on stage and continues to earn appreciation from audiences at home and abroad.
The singer has also been releasing new original music.
Her latest song, Ei Meghla Dine, written, composed and arranged by Nadim Bhuiyan, was recently released on the Alauddin Ali Music Treasure YouTube channel.
Earlier this year, she released another original track, Boishakhite Bosbe Ronger Mela, marking the Bengali New Year.
The song was written by Moniruzzaman Monir, with composition and music direction by Nadim Bhuiyan.
In addition to her own songs, Mimi Alauddin regularly performs timeless hits originally sung by legendary artistes Runa Laila, Sabina Yasmin and Mitali Mukherjee.
She says she hopes to continue dedicating her life to music while entertaining audiences around the world.
