Education Minister ANM Ehsanul Haque Milon on Saturday directed authorities to install CCTV cameras in every Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examination hall to ensure fair, transparent and cheating-free examinations.
The minister issued the directive while virtually addressing an exchange meeting with secretaries of examination centres under the Rajshahi Education Board.
The meeting was held at the Rajshahi Prison Training Centre auditorium ahead of the HSC examinations, which are scheduled to begin on 2 July.
Milon instructed centre secretaries to ensure smooth conduct of the examinations and stressed the need for strict vigilance throughout the examination period.
“CCTV cameras must be installed in every examination hall to ensure transparency and discipline. At the same time, all concerned must remain highly vigilant to maintain a cheating-free environment,” he said.
He also called for a fair, disciplined and well-coordinated examination process, urging centre secretaries to maintain close coordination with the education board, local administration, law enforcement agencies and the respective educational institutions. He also sought the cooperation of public representatives, teachers and guardians.
Rajshahi Deputy Commissioner Kazi Shahidul Islam and Rajshahi Education Board Chairman Prof Shamim Ara Chowdhury attended the meeting along with secretaries from examination centres across the board.
Shamim Ara said this year’s HSC examinations under the Rajshahi Education Board would be held at 208 centres across eight districts, with 140,830 students expected to sit the examinations.
She expressed hope that the examinations would be held in a peaceful and fair environment with the cooperation of all stakeholders.
The board chairman also warned that any examination official found involved in irregularities or illegal activities would face immediate legal action.
She concluded the meeting by wishing the examinees success and thanking teachers and guardians for their efforts in preparing students for the examinations.
