A mild cold wave is sweeping through parts of the country on Saturday, affecting districts in the Rajshahi and Rangpur divisions, as well as Jashore, Chuadanga, and Kushtia.
Tetulia in Panchagarh and Chuadanga recorded the lowest temperature at 8.3 degrees Celsius, while on Friday the nationwide minimum was 6.8 degrees Celsius.
According to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department, temperatures may rise slightly over the next two days, but the cold wave is unlikely to subside completely. Officials warned that temperatures could drop again from Monday.
Residents of Tetulia, Panchagarh, are struggling with bone-chilling cold and dense fog, with daily-wage earners among the most affected. Villagers are burning straw, dry leaves, and firewood to keep warm.
Jitendranath Roy, a meteorologist at the Tetulia Observatory said, the northern icy winds and thick fog have intensified the cold, and similar conditions are expected in the coming days.
