Midland Bank PLC (MDB) has handed over a Pay Order of Tk500,000.00 (Taka Five Lakh only) to The Tech Academy as a Silver Sponsor of Team Bangladesh for its participation in the FIRST Global Challenge (FGC) 2026.
This sponsorship has been extended under the bank’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Programme in the Education Sector, reads a press release.
The Pay Order was formally handed over by Midland Bank PLC Deputy Managing Director & CRO Md Zahid Hossain, to The Tech Academy CEO Shams Jaber at a ceremony held on Tuesday.
The FIRST Global Challenge 2026, a prestigious international robotics competition, is scheduled to be held in Incheon, Republic of Korea, from October 7 to October 10, 2026. Team Bangladesh has represented the country in this global competition since 2017 and achieved the distinction of becoming World Champion in 2020.
The Tech Academy, Bangladesh’s first robotics school for children, has been actively working to promote STEM education, robotics, innovation and technology among young learners through robotics training, educational programmes and nationwide outreach initiatives.
Midland Bank PLC extended the sponsorship as part of its commitment to supporting education, youth development, innovation and technology through its CSR initiatives. The bank believes that supporting Team Bangladesh will encourage young talents to pursue STEM education and innovation while strengthening Bangladesh’s representation on the global robotics platform.
Through this initiative, Midland Bank PLC has reaffirmed its commitment to contributing to the advancement of education, innovation and technological development and to empowering the next generation of young innovators in Bangladesh.
