Midland Bank PLC (MDB) successfully organised a two-day training programme titled “Islamic Banking Fundamentals” on July 4, and July 11, at the MDB Training Institute in Banani, Dhaka.
The training programme was designed to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of Islamic banking principles, including Shariah-compliant products, operational procedures, and relevant regulatory requirements.
On the first day, sessions were conducted by Md Fariduddin Ahmed, former managing director and CEO of Islami Bank Bangladesh PLC, and MM Saiful Islam, deputy managing director of Shahjalal Islami Bank PLC. The second day’s sessions were led by Md Jafar Sadeq, FCA, deputy managing Director of Shahjalal Islami Bank PLC, and Dr Md Hafizur Rahman, CSAA, assistant vice president of City Bank PLC.
The training was attended by Imtiaz U Ahmed, managing director and CEO of Midland Bank PLC; Md Zahid Hossain, deputy managing director and Chief Risk Officer (CRO); and Md Nazmul Huda Sarkar, Deputy Managing Director and Chief Technology Officer (CTO).
Members of the Senior Management Team, Heads of Divisions, Area Heads, selected Branch Managers, and all officials of the Bank’s Banani Branch also participated in the programme.
Through this initiative, Midland Bank PLC. reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening the professional knowledge and competencies of its officials, particularly in Shariah-compliant banking, aligning with the Bank’s continued focus on expanding its Islamic banking services.
