Real Madrid produced a dominant display at the Santiago Bernabeu, sweeping aside a lacklustre Valencia 4–0 with Kylian Mbappé scoring twice and Jude Bellingham rediscovering his best form.
The hosts did most of the damage in the first half and cruised to a comfortable victory despite Vinícius Jr missing a second-half penalty.
Madrid take charge early
From the opening whistle, Los Blancos were in full control, relentlessly pressing Valencia back. Vinícius forced an early save after cutting inside from the left, while Bellingham’s curling effort moments later was also kept out.
Madrid’s breakthrough came midway through the first half after a soft handball decision in the box gave them a penalty, which Mbappé calmly converted. The Frenchman added a second soon after, finishing a sweeping move with a close-range tap-in following a clever assist from Arda Güler.
Bellingham then made it 3–0 before the break, curling in a superb strike from outside the box to underline Madrid’s dominance.
Vinicius misses from the spot, Carreras caps the rout
The second half was more subdued, with Madrid managing their lead comfortably. Mbappé handed Vinícius a chance to score from the spot, but the Brazilian’s effort was straight at the goalkeeper. He was later substituted after a frustrating evening.
There was still time for one final flourish as substitute Álvaro Carreras smashed in a stunning fourth from the edge of the box to round off a comprehensive win.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side now turn their focus to the Champions League, where they will visit Anfield in midweek.
