Marvel has announced a new limited comic-book series centred on Jean Grey, shortly after unveiling the next generation of X-Men for its upcoming MCU reboot.

According to Collider, the five-issue Jean Grey series will launch on 25 November 2026, ahead of Avengers: Doomsday. Jed MacKay, writer of X-Men (2024), will pen the series, with artist Rogê Antônio handling the artwork.

The announcement comes less than a week after Marvel revealed its new live-action X-Men cast at D23. Sadie Sink will play Jean Grey, alongside Kit Connor as Scott Summers, Christopher Abbott as Professor Charles Xavier, Samara Weaving as Emma Frost, Inde Navarrette as Rogue and Maya Boyd as Storm. Adam Driver will also appear as Nathaniel Milbury.

Sink recently made her live-action debut as Jean Grey in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, succeeding Famke Janssen and Sophie Turner, who previously played the character.

Jake Schreier, who directed Thunderbolts , will helm the untitled X-Men film, which is scheduled for release on 5 May 2028. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has also said more casting announcements are still to come.

Jean Grey first appeared in The X-Men #1 in September 1963, created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. In the new series, she returns to Earth after her intergalactic adventures as Phoenix.

The story begins after the conclusion of DNX, Marvel’s five-issue crossover event launching in September 2026. The event brings the X-Men and Fantastic Four together, with MacKay writing and Federico Vicentini providing the artwork.

Following DNX, Jean returns home to find the X-Men’s world transformed by events she failed to stop. MacKay said her return will “throw off the balance in a pretty dramatic way”.

Jean’s return had previously been delayed because of the ongoing Phoenix series. MacKay said he continued to hold off on bringing her into X-Men until the timing felt right.

The new series will mark another major chapter for Jean Grey as Marvel prepares to expand the X-Men across its comics and cinematic universe.
