A young man was killed at a workers’ hostel of Matador Group in the capital’s Kamrangirchar area in the early hours of Thursday.

The victim, Md Yakub Ali, 25, was the son of Abdul Malek from Aralia village in Gazaria upazila of Munshiganj district.

Yakub worked at Matador Group and lived at its workers’ hostel in the Lakepar area of Kamrangirchar.

According to police, fellow workers discovered him critically injured inside the hostel’s toilet with his throat slit at around 1am.

He was immediately taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), where he later died while undergoing treatment.

Assistant Manager of the company, Bazlur Rahman, said they rescued Yakub from the toilet after being informed and immediately took him to the hospital. “We do not know who did this and why,” he added.

Inspector (Investigation) of Kamrangirchar Police Station Sheikh Lutfur Rahman, said police have prepared an autopsy report. Three blades were recovered from the toilet as evidence.
