A man was allegedly hacked to death by his elder brother following a family feud in Chatlar Math area of Dharmaganj under Fatullah, Narayanganj.
The deceased was identified as Md Mohan, son of Babul Mia, a resident of the area.
According to police and eyewitnesses, a dispute had been ongoing between the two brothers for several days.
The dispute took a fatal turn around 6am on Friday when elder brother Ujjwal, 34, reportedly hacked his younger brother Mohan with a sharp weapon, inflicting several wounds.
Family members rescued Mohan and rushed him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where the attending physician pronounced him dead.
Mohammad Mahbub Alam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Fatullah Model Police Station, stated that police arrived at the scene and recovered the blood-stained weapon.
He further noted that the accused, Ujjwal, is currently absconding. Local neighbours have alleged that Ujjwal is “drug-addicted”.
The police confirmed that preparations are currently underway to file a murder case regarding the incident.
