Malaysia has deported 60 undocumented migrants, including Bangladeshis, after they completed their sentences for immigration violations. The deportation process was carried out on Thursday, using both Terminal-1 and Terminal-2 at Kuala Lumpur International Airport.

Among the deported individuals, 56 were men and 4 were women, all of whom had been detained at the Kedah Belantik Immigration Detention Centre, media reports say.

Besides Bangladeshis, the deported individuals include citizens from Indonesia, Pakistan, Nepal, Laos, Spain, Hong Kong, and Vietnam.

These migrants were convicted under Malaysia’s Immigration Act 1959-1963 and the Immigration Rules 1963, for various offenses, including entering the country without valid passports or permits and overstaying beyond their permitted duration.

After serving their sentences, they were sent back to their respective countries.

The deportation was led by TPPI Noor Ishak bin Hamzah, with assistance from eight other officials. The Kedah Immigration Department stated that such deportation activities are part of their ongoing surveillance and enforcement measures against illegal migration.
