Veteran lyricist, composer and music director Milton Khandakar has been admitted to BLCS Hospital in Aftab Nagar, Dhaka, for advanced treatment.
He has been suffering from shoulder, waist and spinal problems for a prolonged period.
He was admitted to the hospital at around 11am on Monday, 29 June. Doctors are expected to perform stem cell surgery under the supervision of Yakub Ali.
News of his hospitalisation prompted an outpouring of prayers and good wishes from fans, fellow artistes and well-wishers on social media. His family also expressed hope that he would make a swift recovery following the operation under the close supervision of his medical team.
Milton Khandakar is one of Bangladesh’s best-known lyricists and has also earned widespread acclaim as a composer and music director. Many leading Bangladeshi singers have built successful careers by performing his songs. He received the National Film Award in recognition of his contribution to music.
His best-known songs include Akashete Lokkho Tara, Chand Kintu Ektare, Rongchhota Jeanser Pant Pora, Pathore Phool Photabo Shudhu Bhalobasha Diye, Tomra Kauke Bolo Na, Ei To Prothom Ekti Meye Amar Preme Porechhe, Eto Chhoto Jonom Niya Jagote Ashiya, Mete Na Mete Na Shad Bhalobashiya, Ami Je Tomar Ke, Kachhe Eshe Nao Jene Nao and Anjana, Hoyto E Gaan Tumi Shunchho Na.
