The LP Gas Traders Cooperative Society Ltd has called off a nationwide halt to LPG sales. This decision came after a meeting between LPG leaders and Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) Chairman Jalal Ahmed on Thursday evening.

The matter was confirmed in a press release issued by the association.

Association President Selim Khan demanded that consumer rights raids on LP gas shops be stopped. Traders also demand that the price of a 12kg LPG cylinder be fixed at Tk1,500 at the consumer level.

Meanwhile, BERC has considered the demands of the gas traders to be justified. At the meeting, BERC Chairman Jalal Ahmed assured them of a price increase in line with the traders’ demands.

Jalal said companies that are currently inactive will be called for discussions next week. BERC will continue efforts to resolve the ongoing crisis. He also assured that the ongoing gas crisis will be resolved before the upcoming Ramadan.
