A madrasa student was killed and three others injured after being struck by lightning in separate incidents in Narail district on Thursday.
Jabed Biswas Mithun, 22, a first-year Alim student at Juraliya Madrasa and son of Aminur Biswas of Chandpur village in Sadar upazila’s Shahabad union, was struck by lightning around 10:30am while clearing weeds in a nearby field with his father.
Locals rushed him to Narail District Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival. His father, Aminur Biswas, also fell unconscious in the incident but survived.
Two other women, Lovely Begum, 38, of Chandpur village, and Lily Begum, 60, of Durgapur area under Narail municipality, were also injured in separate lightning strikes and are receiving treatment at Narail District Hospital.
