Detectives arrested Nure Alam Siddiqui Haque, central organising secretary of the Krishak League, from a petrol pump in the capital’s Khilgaon area Sunday afternoon.
Molla Mohammad Shaheen, deputy commissioner (DC) of DB Wari Division, confirmed the arrest.
He said the arrest was made on the basis of specific allegations.
Nure Alam was taken to the DB office in the evening. Legal proceedings against him are underway, the official added.
Earlier, in April last year, he was arrested by DB police in connection with a July uprising case. After spending a long time in prison, he was released on bail.
Allegations have since surfaced that he became involved in various activities on behalf of the Awami League, whose activities are currently banned.
