Mohd Khorshed Alam has been elected president and Jamilur Rahman has been elected secretary general of the Bangladesh-China Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCCI) for the 2025-2027 term.
The election results were announced on October 8 by Md Sayed Ali, chairman of the BCCCI Election Board. A formal handover ceremony took place the following day at the chamber’s office in the capital’s Gulshan area.
Nargis Murshida, administrator of the BCCCI and joint secretary of the commerce ministry, presided over the event. She also formally transferred the leadership to Mohd Khorshed Alam, praising his efforts during the challenging period that preceded the election.
As the election was uncontested, all officials were elected by acclamation. The biannual election was conducted under the supervision of Murshida, with no other panels or candidates contesting the positions.
The newly elected executive committee (EC) members include Mohd Khorshed Alam, managing director of Intimate International Ltd as president, and Jamilur Rahman, managing director of Extol (Bangladesh) Ltd as secretary general.
Other key appointments include senior and vice presidents, directors and joint secretaries representing various businesses, including China Goldview Resource Co Ltd, Investors Services Co Ltd, Univentures Ltd, and Huisida International BD Ltd.
In addition to the leadership handover, the outgoing administrator also provided a detailed report on the earnings and expenditures during her tenure.
The ceremony was attended by members of the previous committee, including former senior vice presidents, who offered their support and congratulations to the newly elected officials.
The election marks a new chapter for the BCCCI as it continues to strengthen ties between Bangladesh and China’s business communities.
