BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s condition remains unchanged. She is stable and under close observation by doctors at Dhaka’s Evercare Hospital.
Dr Md Al Mamun, one of Khaleda’s personal physicians, told TIMES of Bangladesh that her endoscopy has been completed, and the bleeding has stopped.
Meanwhile, her daughter-in-law, Dr Zubaida Rahman, arrived in Dhaka from London on Friday and has been attending to Khaleda at Evercare Hospital twice daily – once in the morning and again at night.
Dr Zubaida, a specialist physician, is constantly in touch with Khaleda’s elder son, Tarique Rahman, the BNP acting chairman, in London regarding every step of the treatment.
On 23 November, Khaleda Zia, former three-time prime minister, was admitted to the hospital due to breathing difficulties. She is currently undergoing treatment for pneumonia, as well as longstanding issues related to her kidneys, liver, arthritis, and diabetes.
She was scheduled to be flown to London for advanced treatment via an air ambulance from Germany, arranged through a special initiative by Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. However, her medical team has yet to give the green light for the air ambulance to arrive.
