Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia has sought details on the wellbeing of Gono Odhikar Parishad President and former DUCSU VP Nurul Haque Nur. Nur sustained injuries in a recent confrontation between political groups.
Demonstrating her personal interest in the matter, a representative from the BNP, Standing Committee Member and Begum Zia’s own physician, Professor Dr. A Z M Zahid Hossain, visited the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on Saturday evening to check on Nur’s status and convey the chairperson’s sentiments, reports BSS.
A spokesperson from the BNP’s media wing, Shayrul Kabir Khan, stated that the former Prime Minister was deeply disturbed upon learning of the event and has vehemently denounced the act of violence. She has also called upon the relevant officials to guarantee that Nur is provided with the highest standard of medical care available.
Furthermore, Begum Zia has expressed her heartfelt wishes for Nur’s prompt and complete return to health.
The altercation that led to the injuries occurred on Friday evening in the Kakrail area of the capital originating as a procession by the Gono Odhikar Parishad moved past the offices of the Jatiya Party (JP). The situation escalated, leading to an intervention by police who used batons to disperse the clashing groups.
Nurul Haque Nur is currently receiving care at DMCH for various wounds which include a confirmed fracture to his nasal bone.
