BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, who is undergoing treatment at Evercare Hospital in the capital, has been placed under close observation. Doctors have reported that an infection has spread to Khaleda Zia’s heart and lungs, causing breathing difficulties. Consequently, doctors have kept her under intensive observation.
Party sources indicate that her son Tarique Rahman and his wife Zubaida Rahman, from London, are continuously monitoring Khaleda Zia’s physical condition. Furthermore, in Dhaka, Syeda Sharmila Rahman, the wife of her late younger son Arafat Rahman Koko, is by Khaleda Zia’s side.
Meanwhile, the party has asked the nation for prayers for Khaleda Zia’s recovery. A prayer session will be held on Tuesday at 11am at the Bhasani Bhaban auditorium in Nayapaltan, organised by the Zia Mancha, wishing for Khaleda Zia’s recovery. BNP Vice Chairman Barkat Ullah Bulu will be present as the chief guest at the event.
On the other hand, a prayer gathering was held at the central office of the Islamic Oikya Jote on Monday, praying for Khaleda Zia’s swift recovery. The leaders highlighted Khaleda Zia’s commendable and uncompromising role in favour of the country’s independence, sovereignty, and Islamic values, and against all forms of aggression and dominance.
Among those who participated in the discussion were Professor Maulana Abdul Karim, Secretary General of the Islamic Oikya Jote led by Advocate Maulana Abdur Rokib, Senior Vice Chairman of the Islamic Oikya Jote and valiant freedom fighter Maulana Shaukat Amin, central leader Advocate Mosabbir Rahman Molla, and others.
Following the meeting, a prayer for Khaleda Zia’s swift recovery was led by the Secretary General of the Islamic Oikya Jote, Maulana Abdul Karim.
Khaleda Zia was urgently admitted to Evercare Hospital on Sunday night after she suddenly experienced breathing difficulties on Sunday.
