Former Bangladesh national team captain and wicketkeeper-batter Khaled Masud Pilot has been elected as a director of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). The much-discussed BCB election took place on Monday at a five-star hotel in Dhaka.
Pilot contested for the director position from Category-3 as a nominated councillor. Among the 43 councillors who cast their votes in this category, Pilot secured a landslide victory with 35 votes, while his only rival, Debabrata Pal, nominated from Jahangirnagar University managed 7 votes. One vote was declared invalid, according to sources.
Category-3 primarily represents former cricketers, but also includes councillors from various organizations such as Bangladesh Police and Bangladesh Ansar. Additionally, representatives from Dhaka University, Rajshahi University, and Chittagong University also participated in the voting process.
Furthermore, five councillors nominated by the National Sports Council were part of this category. With their votes combined, Khaled Masud Pilot has been elected as a BCB director.
