The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced free entry to selected galleries for all five days of the first Test between Bangladesh and West Indies, which begins at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on 28 October.

Spectators will be able to watch the match from the North and South galleries without purchasing tickets under the special arrangement announced on Friday.

The offer does not extend to the Grand Stand, Shaheed Jewel Stand, Shaheed Mushtaque Stand or other VIP and hospitality areas.

The decision expands the usual provision of free entry for schoolchildren at Test matches in Bangladesh, allowing other spectators to attend the opening Test from the designated galleries without charge.

The West Indies arrived in Bangladesh earlier this week and are playing a two-day warm-up match against BCB XI in Mirpur as part of their preparations for the series.

The first Test begins on 28 October at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium. The second match is scheduled to start in Sylhet on 5 November.

Both Tests form part of the ICC World Test Championship (WTC), adding championship points to the contest between the two sides.

The BCB’s decision provides supporters with an opportunity to watch the opening match live from the stadium without paying for entry, although access to the designated free galleries is separate from admission to the venue’s premium seating and hospitality areas.
