Singer Kazi Soma has returned to music after stepping away from regular work following the death of her only son, Swapno, in 2022.

A native of Shariatpur, Soma developed a close connection with music from childhood. She has released several original songs featuring her own lyrics and compositions, earning appreciation from listeners.

Her life changed after losing her son. Grieving deeply, she withdrew from regular professional activities for a long time and was rarely seen at cultural events or stage shows. With encouragement and affection from people close to her, she has gradually returned to music.

Soma has also endured another painful experience. In 2018, a US-Bangla Airlines flight carrying more than 300 passengers was scheduled to land in Cox’s Bazar but eventually landed in Chattogram because of a technical problem. Soma survived the incident but lost her child.

Returning to normal life after such losses has not been easy for her. She continues to carry the grief but says music has become a way to keep herself grounded.

“It is terribly true that after losing my only son, I became very lonely for the rest of my life. Only a mother who has lost a child can understand how difficult it is to continue living. Still, I have some close people who are always by my side and try to help me remain normal. I am grateful to them,” Soma said.

She is now planning to release two new original songs soon.

“I want to immerse myself in music and try to feel a little normal again,” she said.

Soma previously drew attention with her song Babuiya Babuiya. Her rendition of the hill song Tui Far Ai Thain Dio also received a positive response from listeners.
