Actor-politician Kangana Ranaut has hit back at yoga guru Ramdev after he criticised her controversial “generation gutter” remarks, telling him not to “daydream” about her youth or private life.
Ranaut responded to Ramdev through an Instagram post, where she also claimed that her “character” and “personality” were better than his.
“Baba ji, don’t daydream about my jawani (youth) or bedroom. One can only assume based on rumours and gossip. At least mujhe kabhi Supreme Court se fatkar nahi lagi (At least the Supreme Court has never named me in a case) for false/fraud efficacy claims based on hard facts, not some gossip or assumptions,” Ranaut wrote.
Taking a swipe at controversies surrounding Ramdev and his company Patanjali Ayurved, she added, “So don’t give me character lessons. Tumse toh bahut zayada behtar hai mera character (My character is much better than yours). Mo fraud detected here.”
Ranaut’s post came after Ramdev questioned her past and youth while criticising her comments about Gen Z protesters.
“What were her past deeds like, and what was her youth like?” he reportedly asked.
In 2024, Ramdev and Patanjali Ayurved co-founder Acharya Balkrishna tendered an unconditional apology to the Supreme Court over misleading advertisements.
They expressed regret for breaching earlier court undertakings and assured the court that such medicinal claims and disparaging statements against modern medicine would not be repeated.
Ranaut had sparked controversy after referring to Gen Z protesters at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar as “generation gutter”.
The protests were led by the satirical Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), and Ranaut had particularly criticised videos in which some protesters allegedly used abusive language against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
She later clarified that she was not referring to all young people or the entire protest movement.
“Those who call themselves cockroaches, and we say that cockroaches emerge from gutters, what is wrong with that?” she said.
Ranaut also argued that her comments were directed at a specific section of young people rather than Gen Z as a whole.
“If some young people use drugs, or if we discuss the current trend of addiction involving drugs, betting, gambling, or the dark web, addressing a specific segment of the youth doesn’t mean I was making a blanket statement about everyone,” she said.
The latest exchange between Ranaut and Ramdev has added another chapter to the ongoing controversy surrounding the actor-politician’s remarks about the younger generation.
