Police have arrested former Joint Convener of Chuadanga District Jubo League, Sirajul Islam Asman, 50, from his residence on Wednesday night.
Police sources said a special team from Chuadanga Sadar Police Station raided the Railpara area around 9:30pm following a tip-off. The operation, led by OC Khaledur Rahman and Inspector (Operations) Hossain Ali, resulted in the arrest of Asman.
Chuadanga Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Khaledur Rahman said “Asman was arrested in connection with a case over an attack on students during the anti-discrimination student movement.”
He added that further legal proceedings are underway.
