A Dhaka court has sent Dhaka College student Fahim Al Hasan to jail in a case filed over the killing of his wife, Jahangirnagar University (JU) student Sharmin Jahan, at a house in Savar.
Dhaka Judicial Magistrate Md Tajul Islam Sohag passed the order on Friday after police produced the accused following completion of his two-day remand.
The investigation officer requested the court to keep him in custody as the probe remains ongoing. After the hearing, the court granted the plea and sent him to jail.
Sharmin Jahan, a student of the 51st batch of the Public Administration Department, was found lying bloodied on a bed at a house in Islamnagar, Savar, on 15 March. She was later taken to a hospital where doctors declared her dead.
On the same day, the victim’s uncle, Monirul Islam, filed a murder case with Ashulia Police Station. Police later arrested Fahim. On 24 March, Dhaka Senior Judicial Magistrate Mahfuzur Rahman placed him on a two-day remand.
