Jagannath University (JnU) has suspended its scheduled winter vacation, which was set for 28 December to 1 January according to the academic calendar.

The decision was announced in a university notice issued on Sunday.

The notice stated that the winter break has been put on hold following disruptions to academic activities caused by the 2025–26 admission tests, the Jagannath University Central Students Union (Jnucsu) election process and the recent earthquake.

The matter will be placed before the next academic council for further decision. The vacation will be granted at a later date, the notification added.

Meanwhile, due to the earthquake, activities under Clause 11 of the Jnucsu election schedule, specifically the dope tests scheduled for 27 and 30 November were postponed. The administration said a new schedule will be announced later.

According to the election timetable, the final list of candidates is set to be published on 3 December. Candidates will be allowed to withdraw their nominations on 4, 7 and 8 December, with the revised list being published on 9 December.

Election campaigning will run until 19 December, and voting will take place on 22 December.

Vote counting and the announcement of results are scheduled for 22–23 December, as per the timetable.
