Family Welfare Visitors, Family Welfare Assistants and Family Planning Inspectors in Kaliganj Upazila of Jhenaidah observed a work stoppage and sit-in on Wednesday, demanding swift implementation of a long-pending recruitment policy.

The workers gathered in front of the upazila family planning office from 9am, calling for formal recruitment rules, career progression and promotion opportunities that they say have been denied for decades.

Family Planning Inspector Shahinur Begum said they provide services ‘from birth to death’, including newborn registration, antenatal care, referrals, home deliveries, EPI assistance and community clinic duties.
