BERC first announced jet fuel pricing in May 2025 and said prices would be adjusted every month in line with the international market.

A BERC official said that if global prices rise, domestic rates will increase, and if they fall, local prices will also come down. Earlier, the Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation used to set prices periodically.

The regulator said the latest adjustment was made based on the average Platts rate from 5 April to 4 May for May 2026 pricing.

BERC also held a public hearing on the matter on Thursday under Sections 22 (Kha) and 34 of the Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission Act, 2003.
