Jamaat-e-Islami has announced a countrywide programme to press for its five-point demands. The announcement was made by the party’s Nayeb-e-Ameer Syed Abdullah Md Taher at a press conference held at the central office on Sunday.
The program includes protests and rallies in the capital on 18 September, in all divisional cities on 19 September, and in all districts and upazilas on 26 September.
Jamaat’s five-point demands include holding the national election in February based on the July Charter; introducing the Proportional Representation (PR) system in both houses of the next national parliament; ensuring a level playing field for all to ensure free, fair, and acceptable elections; bringing visible justice for the atrocities, repression, genocide, and corruption of the fascist government; and banning the activities of the collaborators of autocracy, including the Jatiya Party and the 14-party alliance.
