Charmonai Pir and Ameer of Islami Andolan Bangladesh Mufti Syed Rezaul Karim has accused the Jamaat ameer of taking selfies with “unveiled” women.

He made this remark at an election rally in Hatibandha, Lalmonirhat on Thursday.

Criticising Jamaat-e-Islami, Mufti Rezaul Karim said, “We never said, ‘Move aside boys, time for you girls’. And that elder person takes selfies sitting beside girls. Takes selfies with unveiled girls. This is something the Islami Andolan cannot do.”

He further said, after 5 August, when anarchy prevailed in this country, Islami Andolan played the role of a guard to protect the lives, property, and honour of minorities. At this time, stating that women will stay in their place, and men in theirs, he asked for votes for the “hand fan” symbol.

After the rally in Hatibandha, the ameer participated in election roadside rallies at Mission Mor in Kaliganj, Aditmari, and Sadar upazilas of Lalmonirhat.
