Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Shafiqur Rahman has declared total assets worth Tk 1.49 crore, according to an affidavit submitted to the Election Commission on Monday.
The declaration shows his net annual income at Tk3.6 lakh, with Tk30,000 paid in taxes. He reported earning Tk3 lakh from agriculture and receiving Tk60,000 in donations.
His movable assets include Tk60.76 lakh in cash, Tk4.9 lakh in bank deposits, Tk27.16 lakh in investments such as bonds, debentures, and shares, and a car valued at Tk4.5 lakh.
Additionally, he owns gold worth Tk1 lakh, electronics worth Tk2 lakh, and furniture valued at Tk2.4 lakh, totaling Tk1.27 crore in movable assets.
Shafiqul Rahman’s immovable assets comprise 2.17 acres of agricultural land valued at Tk17.71 lakh, 13 decimals of non-agricultural land worth Tk2.54 lakh, and a duplex house on 11.77 decimals of land valued at Tk27 lakh.
The affidavit also notes that two legal cases against him are currently stayed by the court. Between 2008 and 2017, he faced 32 cases, of which he was acquitted in 7, granted exemption in 17, and had 8 cases were withdrawn.
