India’s External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has said that India and Bangladesh have agreed to maintain close communication, signalling continued engagement between the two nations.
The remark came after a meeting with Bangladesh Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman at Hyderabad House in Delhi on Wednesday afternoon.
Following the meeting, Jaishankar shared an update on his verified X account. He wrote: “Pleased to host FM Khalilur Rahman of Bangladesh and his delegation this afternoon. We discussed strengthening our bilateral relationship in its various facets. Also exchanged views on regional and global developments. Agreed to remain in close touch.”

Prime Minister’s Foreign Affairs Adviser Humaiun Kobir and Bangladesh High Commissioner to India M Riaz Hamidullah were also present.
This is the first high-level visit to India since the BNP government, led by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, took office, marking a renewed effort to restore and enhance bilateral engagement after a period of tension.
