The teacher recruitment process at Islamic University (IU) has resumed after a significant hiatus, with the current university administration, described as BNP-leaning, initiating the board for the post of lecturer in Department of Communication and Multimedia Journalism to mitigate the teacher crisis.
Vice-Chancellor Professor AKM Motinur Rahman has assured that the highest level of transparency and neutrality will be ensured during the recruitment.
The recruitment examination for the single lecturer post was held on Tuesday from 11:30am to 12:30pm, at the vice-chancellor’s office in the university’s Administration Building. A total of 13 candidates participated in the test.
Sources indicate that during the tenure of the previous Awami administration, the university faced numerous unpleasant incidents regarding recruitment, including leaked audio clips of financial transactions, vandalism, protests, clashes, and the resignation of vice-chancellors.
Due to various incidents, including teacher recruitment trade, most vice-chancellors were unable to complete their designated terms.
Regarding the ongoing process, VC Motinur said, “Allegations or fears of complexity, lack of transparency, or bias often arise during the recruitment of teachers and officials. We are considering these matters with the utmost importance. From the beginning, my goal has been to complete the entire process on the basis of transparency, accountability, and neutrality”.
