Islami Andolan Bangladesh (IAB) Ameer Mufti Syed Muhammad Rezaul Karim, popularly known as Peer Saheb Charmonai, has stated that there is no opportunity to once again hand over responsibility to those who have repeatedly failed to run the country.

Speaking as the chief guest at election rallies held on Saturday at Tongibari and Chonbari markets, he argued that while individuals and parties have prospered over the last 55 years, no genuine welfare has been achieved for the nation or its people.

The IAB chief noted that the July mass uprising has presented a fresh opportunity to rebuild the nation. He urged the public to vote for the “Handfan” symbol to establish a new governing arrangement for a “New Bangladesh.”

He further pledged that if Islami Andolan Bangladesh assumes power, public money will not be misappropriated, and the country will be free from corruption, money laundering, and terrorism.

Regarding political alliances and ideology, Rezaul Karim asserted that the country cannot operate on vague principles. He reiterated his party’s commitment to the “One Box Policy” in favour of Islam, noting that IAB remains the only party explicitly calling for the establishment of Islam.

He claimed that a certain quarter had attempted to isolate them through a web of conspiracy, but instead, that group has become isolated themselves, as the Ulama and the religious-minded people of the country remain with the IAB.

Highlighting the party’s history, the Amir mentioned that IAB has been involved in politics for the welfare of the people since 1987 without compromising its principles for greed.

He criticised certain entities for holding “secret meetings” with India and the United States, stating that such actions are futile as the citizens of this country – and no one else – will build this state.

The rallies were organised in support of the IAB-nominated candidates for the Munshiganj-1 and Munshiganj-2 constituencies.

KM Atiqur Rahman, the Assistant Secretary General of the party, is contesting for the Munshiganj-1 seat, while KM Billah Hossain, the Central Secretary of Islami Sramik Andolan, is the candidate for Munshiganj-2.
