Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said the war with Iran is “not over”, stressing that several major objectives remain unresolved, including the dismantling of uranium enrichment facilities and concerns over Tehran’s backing of regional proxy groups.
“There is work to be done,” Netanyahu said, signalling that Israel would continue its operations until those goals are met, reports Al Jazeera.
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump has firmly rejected Iran’s latest proposal aimed at ending the conflict, although he did not specify the exact reasons behind the decision.
Under the proposal, Iran sought an end to the naval blockade, the removal of sanctions imposed by the United States and international organisations, and the right to maintain control over its nuclear programme and foreign policy. The demands relate directly to issues Washington has previously cited as justification for launching the war.
Observers say each of Tehran’s key demands clashes with long-standing US policy. In particular, Washington has consistently opposed Iran’s ambitions to become the world’s 12th or 13th nuclear power and has repeatedly warned about Tehran’s ability to carry out offensive operations against neighbouring states, especially Israel.
The US has also been pushing to curb Iran’s support for groups such as Hamas and Hezbollah, while seeking to significantly weaken Tehran’s regional influence.
It remains uncertain whether Trump’s rejection of the proposal will steer negotiations in a new direction or further complicate efforts to end the war.
