BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has said that, behind the Logi Boitha Movement of beating people to death with sticks and oars on the open streets on Sheikh Hasina’s instructions on 28 October 2006, there was an “international syndicate and masterplan,” which started as early as 2005.
Rizvi said, “Starting from 2005, pressure began to come from a specific direction through foreign diplomats, so that a third party would come to power. Later, it was seen that attempts were made to portray Bangladesh as an unstable state centring on the rise of militancy and the ‘Bangla Bhai issue’.”
He made these remarks at a discussion titled “The Rise of Awami Fascism from the Corpse of the Logi Boitha Movement”, organised by the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (Ducsu) on Tuesday.
He further said, “It was a coordinated international campaign, aimed at weakening the BNP-led four-party alliance government and justifying the arrival of the caretaker government. The political violence that was perpetrated under Sheikh Hasina’s leadership at that time was part of that very plan.”
Ruhul Kabir Rizvi went on to allege that, later, the Awami League government, in coordination with that international network, established a “one-party repressive policy and fascist rule.”
He further said, “The foundation of fascism in Bangladesh was laid through 28 October. On that very day, the international and local processes of drowning democracy in blood converged.”
