The International Cricket Council (ICC) has confirmed the venues for the 2026 Men’s T20 World Cup, which will be jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka from February 7 to March 8.
In India, matches will take place in Ahmedabad, Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai and Mumbai, while Sri Lanka will host games in Colombo and Kandy, with a third venue yet to be finalised. The final will be held at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium, the largest cricket ground in the world.
The ICC is expected to announce the full schedule next week, including team groupings and ticketing information.
Under an agreement between the BCCI and the PCB, Pakistan will play all its matches in Sri Lanka, including the final should they qualify. If Sri Lanka reach the semi-finals, that match will also be staged in Colombo. The highly anticipated India–Pakistan group clash will take place in Colombo as well.
The 2026 edition will follow the same format used in 2024, featuring 20 teams divided into four groups of five. The top two from each group will progress to the Super Eight stage, followed by the semi-finals and final.
Hosts India and Sri Lanka have secured automatic qualification, along with Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, South Africa, the USA and West Indies. New Zealand, Pakistan and Ireland qualified through T20I rankings, while Canada, Italy, Netherlands, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Nepal, Oman and the UAE earned their places through regional events.
Defending champions India, who defeated South Africa in the 2024 final in Barbados, will aim to retain their crown on home soil. Each Indian venue is expected to host at least six matches, with fewer cities chosen compared with the 2023 World Cup to ensure better logistics and crowd management.
