Home Affairs Adviser Lieutenant General (retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury on Tuesday morning expressed hope that most illegal arms will be recovered ahead of the national election.
Drives to seize illegal weapons are ongoing and will continue, he also said.
He came up with the remark after inaugurating the transport service of the Ansar and Village Defence Party (VDP) Trust.
The adviser informed that Ansar personnel will have the largest deployment during the election period, with 13 members assigned to each polling centre. The Ansar members are expected to play a vital role in ensuring a fair and peaceful election.
