The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) has ordered the confiscation of all domestic assets in the name of ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina and former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal (who were sentenced to death in a crimes against humanity case on Monday), transferring them to state ownership.
The three-member International Crimes Tribunal-1, led by Justice Golam Mortuza Mazumder, announced the verdict on Monday.
Furthermore, in the verdict, the tribunal stated that the crimes of the three accused, including Sheikh Hasina, have been proven. Sheikh Hasina was sentenced to death on two charges. Former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal was sentenced to death on one charge.
Former Inspector General of Police Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun was sentenced to five years in prison for becoming an approver (state witness).
During the announcement of the verdict, family members of some of those killed in July-August were present in the court, along with lawyers.
