The Institute of Chartered Secretaries of Bangladesh (ICSB) has appointed Md Shabbirul Alam Chowdhury as its new Secretary and CEO, effective 7 June, the institute said in a press release. Chowdhury, a former Executive Director of Bangladesh Bank, brings over three decades of leadership experience in the country’s financial sector and expertise in financial governance.
Chowdhury holds multidisciplinary qualifications in Law, Finance and Banking, and Computer Science, and has completed advanced professional training at leading national and international institutes to strengthen his expertise. The ICSB said he is also a respected trainer, mentor, and guest faculty member in the banking and financial sector.
During his tenure at Bangladesh Bank, Chowdhury gained extensive experience in central banking operations and regulatory oversight, contributing to financial sector development and governance frameworks. ICSB said his appointment is expected to support the institute’s strategic objectives and institutional excellence.
The institute welcomed Chowdhury, highlighting his regulatory experience, leadership skills, and commitment to advancing professional standards in corporate governance and company secretarial practices in Bangladesh.
