The Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh (ICMAB) has launched the ICMAB Startup Incubation Center (ISIC) to foster innovation, entrepreneurship and sustainable enterprise development.
The centre aims to turn research-based ideas into viable businesses aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals and to establish ICMAB as a national hub for tech-driven startups in accounting and finance.
It will offer mentorship, training, workspace and access to funding networks to help young innovators scale their ventures and create jobs.
ICT Division Secretary Shish Haider Chowdhury inaugurated the centre at the ICMA Bhaban in Nilkhet, saying such initiatives will shape a future economy driven by innovation and youth.
Bangladesh Computer Council Innovation Design and Entrepreneurship Academy Project Director Murtuza Zulkar Nain Noman attended as special guest, while ICT Division Senior Consultant and Head of Operations Siddhartho Goshwami joined as resource person.
ICMAB President Mahtab Uddin Ahmed said the ISIC marks the beginning of a new journey of creative problem-solving.
“The conventional way doesn’t always work. To move forward, we must innovate and design new approaches that address the evolving needs of our nation,” he said.
A view exchange session followed, where ICMAB members, students and industry professionals discussed integrating entrepreneurial thinking into professional practice.
Council Member and Past President Mohammed Salim gave the welcome address, and Siddhartho Goshwami spoke on “Innovation and Entrepreneurship in the Digital Era.”
Council Member Mohammed Jahangir Alam emphasised aligning the CMA profession with market realities to support startup-driven growth.
Both the chief guest and the special guest said the initiative complements the government’s “Smart Bangladesh” vision focused on creativity and technology.
Vice-President Md Kausar Alam concluded by urging collaboration among academia, industry and the government to ensure innovation-led national progress.
