The Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh has elected new office bearers for 2026, appointing Md Kausar Alam FCMA as president at the first meeting of the institute’s 19th Council, held on 15 Thursday January.
Abdul Matin Patwary FCMA and S M Zahir Uddin Haider FCMA were elected vice-presidents, while Monjur Md Saiful Azam FCMA was chosen as secretary and Professor Dr Md Musfiqur Rahman FCMA as treasurer.
Md Kausar Alam FCMA currently serves as group chief financial officer and company secretary of Seven Rings Cement Bangladesh Ltd. He is also a director of Janata Bank PLC and an honorary director of ARK Foundation, a social development non-government organisation. He previously served the institute as vice-president and secretary. In addition to being a fellow member of the institute, he is an associate chartered accountant from England and holds professional memberships as FCS and FCCA.
Vice-president Abdul Matin Patwary FCMA is the managing director of Rivazure Pvt Limited and previously served the institute as vice-president in 2025 and treasurer in 2024. With more than 32 years of senior leadership experience across the public, private and multinational sectors at home and abroad, he has served as chief financial officer and acting managing director of Dhaka Stock Exchange Limited and as finance director of BASF Bangladesh Ltd, with regional responsibilities at BASF Asia Pacific Shared Service Centre in Malaysia. An alumnus of Ideal School, Notre Dame College and the University of Chittagong, he has held several board and trustee roles within Bangladesh’s capital market institutions. He is married to Sabina Akter and has one daughter, Anika Tasnim, who is a medical student.
The other vice-president, S M Zahir Uddin Haider FCMA, is chief operating officer of Hosaf Group. He also serves as an independent director and chairman of the board audit committee of Premier Leasing and Finance Limited. He previously served the institute as secretary and as chairman of the Dhaka Branch Council in 2015.
The newly elected secretary, Monjur Md Saiful Azam FCMA, is managing director of Sysmark Limited and Precision Trading Limited. He earlier served as secretary and treasurer of the Dhaka Branch Council of the institute.
Treasurer Professor Dr Md Musfiqur Rahman FCMA is a professor in the Department of Accounting at the University of Dhaka.
