A human chain was formed in Cumilla protesting the recent incidents of animal cruelty, including the act of gouging out cats’ eyes in Dhaka and other parts of the country.
The demonstration was organised by the animal welfare organisation Biral-er Bari (Cats’ Home) on Saturday afternoon at Pubali Square in Kandirpar.
Participants held placards and chanted slogans such as “Stop Animal Cruelty” and “Be Kind to Them,” urging authorities to ensure the safety and rights of animals.
The event was presided over by the organisation’s founder, Mohammad Saif Uddin Rony and several prominent animal lovers and rights activists.
Speakers at the human chain condemned the growing incidents of animal abuse across the country and demanded exemplary punishment for the perpetrators. They also called for stronger laws and initiatives to ensure a safe environment for animals.
