Protesting students on Wednesday withdrew their blockade at Shikhsha Bhaban intersection after a two-hour demonstration demanding the resignation of Education Minister Dr ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon.
The students were protesting for the second consecutive day against the decision to hold HSC and equivalent examinations during adverse weather conditions. They also expressed outrage over the education minister’s alleged derogatory remarks, in which he reportedly referred to examinees as “farm chickens”.
According to sources, the students gathered at Science Lab intersection after their examinations on Wednesday and began a march towards the Secretariat.
Upon receiving news of the procession, police took positions at Shikkha Bhaban intersection at approximately 3:30pm. To prevent the protesters from reaching the Secretariat, law enforcement officers were seen securing the barricades with locked chains.

A significant number of law enforcement personnel and water cannons were stationed behind the barriers.
The protesters arrived at Shikkha Bhaban intersection around 3:50pm and took up positions in front of the barricades. During the two-hour stay, the students were not observed chanting slogans or attempting to break through the police cordons.
The demonstrators eventually left the site at around 5:50pm. Following their departure, police removed the barricades, and vehicular movement in the area returned to normal.
