Filmmaker Mehedi Hassan Hridoy begins shooting his first web film, ‘Lapatta’, on 8 August, with Nusraat Farialeading the cast.
The project marks Hridoy’s first move into the OTT space after making his mark on the big screen with ‘Borbad’ and ‘Rakshas’. Faria is expected to join the shoot from the first day, while Nasir Uddin Khan will also feature in the film.
The 10-day shoot will begin at Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC) in Dhaka before moving to 300 Feet in Purbachal, Old Dhaka and locations outside the capital.
“We’re starting on the floor tomorrow. We’ll shoot the first day at BFDC, followed by Purbachal’s 300 Feet, Old Dhaka and various locations outside Dhaka. I’ll try to make something completely new and different,” Hridoy said.
If everything stays on track, ‘Lapatta’ will premiere on iScreen during the upcoming Durga Puja.
Hridoy will then turn his attention to his next big-screen project, ‘Nissho’, which he plans to begin shooting with Shakib Khan in late October.
The rest of the cast remains under wraps. Idhika Paul has been linked to the project through social media speculation, but sources said the production team has not approached her.
A close source, however, said a Pakistani actress could be paired opposite Shakib Khan. The team is expected to meet a potential candidate this month, with an announcement possible towards the end of August.
