Hamin Ahmed, frontman of Bangladeshi rock band Miles, has become the first Bangladeshi elected to the executive committee of the Asia-Pacific Music Creators Alliance (APMA) for the 2026–2029 term.
The musician said he was delighted to receive the news from the International Confederation of Societies of Authors and Composers (CISAC). Representatives from more than 20 countries work through the alliance, he said, adding that he would strive to ensure Bangladesh’s voice receives proper attention.
Hamin also serves as chief executive officer of the Bangladesh Lyricists, Composers and Performers Society (BLCPS) and president of the Bangladesh Musical Bands Association (BAMBA). He said discussions were still under way about whether he would take on a specific leadership post within APMA.
The alliance works to protect music creators’ rights, including fair copyright payments, adequate remuneration for private copying and a fairer share of revenue generated by digital music platforms. It also promotes creators’ moral and economic rights and supports the development of collective management organisations.
Established in November 2016 at the World Creators Forum in Beijing, APMA is affiliated with the International Council of Music Creators (CIAM) and CISAC.
Hamin’s election gives Bangladesh a stronger presence in regional discussions on copyright protection and fair remuneration. BLCPS is also working to secure CISAC membership under his leadership.
