A Dhaka court has granted bail to Abdul Hannan, who was arrested on suspicion of owning the motorcycle allegedly used in the shooting of Inqilab Moncho spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Hasan Shahadat passed the order on Sunday following a hearing, court sources said.

According to the sources, members of RAB-2 detained Hannan on 13 December and later handed him over to Paltan Model Police Station.

Later, on 14 December, he was shown arrested under Section 54 of the Code of Criminal Procedure and placed on a three-day remand. During the remand, he was bought to with the showroom owner. In addition, information was obtained from the Bangladesh Road Transport Authority about two vehicles registered in his name, one a Suzuki Gixxer and the other a Yamaha.

However, the motorcycle used in the killing was a Honda Hornet model. Hannan’s motorcycle registration number is Dhaka Metro-L 54-6375, which is a Suzuki Gixxer. There is a one-digit discrepancy between this number and the registration number of the motorcycle used in the killing, as the last digit should have been 6 but was identified as 5. After completion of the remand, Hannan was sent to jail on 17 December.
