Popular singer and composer Habib Wahid has reunited with lyricist and filmmaker SA Haque Alik, marking their return to audio music after a gap of 17 years. The long-awaited collaboration will see the duo release a brand-new album featuring eight songs, with the first track titled ‘Piriti Shikhaili’ set to be unveiled soon.
The announcement has generated excitement among music lovers, many of whom remember the pair’s successful collaborations from the mid-2000s. After nearly two decades away from working together in the audio format, expectations are high as listeners look forward to hearing how their creative chemistry translates into new material while retaining the essence that once made their work so popular.
Although SA Haque Alik is now widely known for directing films and television dramas, songwriting has remained an important part of his creative journey. Over the years, Habib Wahid has composed and arranged music for several of Alik’s lyrics, building a professional relationship rooted in mutual artistic understanding.
Their early audio collaborations were warmly received, yet the duo did not return to this medium for almost 17 years. One of their most memorable works appeared in 2007 on the album ‘Punjabiwala’, which included the bonus track ‘Bole To Diyechhi Hridoyer Kotha’, sung by Habib Wahid and Nancy. The song enjoyed widespread popularity in both Bangladesh and West Bengal.
The following year, Alik wrote three songs for Habib’s hit album ‘Bolchhi Tomake’, including ‘Bolo Keno Emon Hoi’ and ‘Jochona Kotha Bolo Na’. The album also featured ‘Ki Naame Dakbo Tomay Neel Jochona’, performed by Habib’s father, Ferdous Wahid.
Beyond audio albums, their collaboration continued in cinema. Habib lent his voice to ‘Prithibir Joto Sukh Joto Bhalobasha’ from Alik’s film ‘Aakash Chhoya Bhalobasha’, a song that went on to become one of the most popular tracks of its time. He later sang Alik-penned songs in several other films, including ‘Aaro Bhalobasho Tomay’, ‘Ek Prithibi Prem’ and ‘Golui’.
