Gulzar Ahmed, director of Standard Bank PLC and head of Apan Jewellers, has been elected vice-chairman of the bank at its 421st Board meeting.
A native of Golapganj Upazila in Sylhet, Ahmed expanded his family business into nine jewellery showrooms across Dhaka, says a press release.
He has built a 44-year career in business, serving in leadership roles including acting president of the Bangladesh Jewellers Association and first vice president of the Bangladesh Jewellery Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BJMEA).
Gulzar Ahmed also holds positions in FBCCI, Baitul Mukarram Business Group, Apanscape, and the Gulshan DNCC Market Committee. Known for his professionalism and community engagement, he remains active in socio-cultural organisations.
